USB 3.1 (Gen 2) Technology

USB 3.1 (also called Gen 2) introduces improvements over USB 3.0 (Gen 1), with the most noticeable being the new, smaller Type-C connector. The connector is reversible, allowing you to plug it in either way up for easier, more convenient use.

Alternative Mode

The new Type-C Alternative Mode allows the USB cable to carry different types of signal, including native DisplayPort capable of 4K resolution video.
