TP-LINK TL-SG1016PE 16-Port Gigabit Desktop/Rackmount Switch with 8-Port PoE+
What This Product Does
The TL-SG1016PE is a 16-port Gigabit desktop/rackmount switch with 8 PoE+ ports, designed to expand your wired network while delivering both power and data over a single Ethernet cable.
With a total PoE power budget of 150 W (up to 30 W per PoE+ port), it can supply power to higher-demand devices such as wireless access points (APs), IP cameras, and IP phones. Its energy-efficient design helps reduce power consumption, providing an eco-friendly solution for home or business networks.
How It Works
- 8 PoE+ Ports (Port 1–8)
- Supports Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+)
- Automatically detects and supplies power to IEEE 802.3af/at-compliant devices
- Transmits power and data over a single Ethernet cable
- Ideal for installing APs, IP cameras, or IP phones where power outlets may be limited
This simplifies network expansion, allowing devices to be deployed in more flexible locations without separate electrical wiring.
Overload Arrangement & Port Priority
The TL-SG1016PE includes a priority function to protect the system when PoE power is overloaded.
- PoE Power Budget: 150 W total
- Port Priority Order: Port 1 > Port 2 > Port 3 > Port 4 > Port 5 > Port 6 > Port 7 > Port 8
If the total power consumption of all connected PoE+ devices reaches or exceeds 150 W, the switch automatically enforces port priority. Power to the lowest-priority port is cut off first to keep higher-priority ports powered.
Example:
- Port 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 each use 30 W (total 150 W). The PoE max LED is green (all PoE PDs ≥ 150 W).
- A new device drawing 20 W is connected to Port 5.
- To protect the system, power to Port 6 (lower priority than Port 5) is cut off.
- Final power distribution:
- Port 1, 2, 3, 4: 120 W total
- Port 5: 20 W
- Port 6: no power supplied
Easy to Use
- No configuration required
- Desktop or rackmount installation
- Combines solid performance, ease of use, and flexible deployment
The TL-SG1016PE is a strong choice for expanding home or office networks with PoE+ capability.
