VigorSwitch G1080 Gigabit Smart Switch
The VigorSwitch G1080 is a compact, high‑performance Gigabit smart switch designed for small and medium business networks that need simple, effective network management. It offers key managed switch features including VLANs, QoS and Link Aggregation, making it ideal for high data volume applications and expanding your existing router’s Ethernet ports with a small footprint and low cost.
Key Features
-
Gigabit Smart Switching
Designed for SMB networks requiring straightforward management and high performance. -
VLAN Support (IEEE 802.1Q)
- Tag-based VLANs – Segment multiple subnets (VLANs) over a single link between a DrayTek Vigor router and the VigorSwitch G1080. Assign different ports to each VLAN, isolating clients while allowing access control via the router’s firewall.
-
Port-based VLANs – Configure the switch as if it were multiple isolated switches, assigning specific ports to separate networks for clear segmentation.
-
Quality of Service (QoS)
Prioritise critical and latency-sensitive traffic using: - 802.1p CoS (Class of Service) – Supports priority tagging by applications (e.g. Skype) and devices (e.g. VoIP phones), using four flexible queues and scheduling.
-
Port-based QoS – Give higher priority to selected ports, such as VoIP handsets over NAS devices, helping maintain call quality even during heavy file transfers.
-
Rate Limiting per Port
Control bandwidth on each switch port: - Configure Ingress (incoming) and Egress (outgoing) rates
-
Available in increments from 512 kbps, 1 Mbps, 2 Mbps, up to 512 Mbps and Unlimited
-
Link Aggregation / Port Trunking
Increase uplink capacity and resilience by aggregating two 1Gb/s links: - Share traffic across both ports to effectively double uplink bandwidth
-
Provide redundancy so connectivity is maintained if one link fails
Ideal when connecting to a larger switch such as the VigorSwitch G1280. -
Multicast IGMP Snooping
Optimise multicast traffic, such as IP-TV: - Sends multicast streams only to ports that request them
- Prevents unnecessary multicast traffic flooding all switch ports
Power & Efficiency
-
Ultra-Low Power Consumption
Consumes under 1A even when fully loaded, helping keep operating costs low. -
Flexible Power Options
- AC/DC Adaptor (included) – Standard mains-powered operation.
- USB Power – Can also be powered via USB, such as from a PC or a DrayTek Vigor router, useful where space or power sockets are limited.
Management & Integration
-
Standalone Web Management
Manage the VigorSwitch G1080 directly through its built-in web interface. -
Central Management with DrayTek Vigor Routers
When connected to a compatible DrayTek Vigor router, the VigorSwitch G1080 can be: - Monitored, managed, and provisioned centrally via the router’s web interface
- Administered locally or remotely over the Internet using DrayTek Central Switch Management
For more detail on centralised management and VLAN configuration, see the ‘Central Management’ and ‘VLAN Configuration’ information provided for DrayTek Central Switch Management.
